what makes God take action?
There are several times in the Bible when God takes drastic action. God appears to operate in different modes, one of them is to intervene dramatically. God created us and we also act differently at times.
The first time is when God created everything. It's all good, literally, God says so.
The next time God throws a massive temper tantrum and modifies humans and many animals and even plants to be carnivorous. At that time God makes childbirth a death defying experience, if you survive. God also curses Satan and all men. DNA changes and all of creation becomes a nightmare. God is so terrifying during this process that no one says anything in response. God loses it, and we are the losers.
Then humans don't perform well and God not only destroys people, but all land animals. God makes a very weird decision to keep Noah and seven other losers alive. Once again all of us have no say in the consequences.
There are several more times in the Bible, culminating with God showing up in a flesh body and being killed by His creation. He rises from death to eventually reign over an eternal kingdom, the details are sketchy.
So, as Christians we believe there is a master plan at work, even though we all suffer and die. It seems meaningless and arbitrary, only time will tell.
So what makes God take action? We say, "God only knows," but I'm not sure that's true.
