God - sending conflicting messages

 So God created Adam specifically to till God's super special garden. So Adam's only job is to tend to plants, not animals, not the universe, not the moon or stars or anything else, just plants. Then God makes a conflicting rule with the most beautiful, fragrant plant in the middle of the garden, no touchie.

Maybe I'm confused. Read Genesis chapter 2. 

 Think about poor Adam, day after day, being tortured by this tree. If only he could till the soil beneath it's branches, maybe it would grow more. Maybe if he harvested the fruit it would produce better. If only he could trim the branches it would put on new growth. Day after day, being tortured by the presence of the tree. 

It must have been pure, dare it be said? Hell. Then to make matters worse God sends a curse unimaginable, woman. His alter ego, drawn from his own DNA. A twisted tale of death and destruction, and we're not even out of chapter 2.
