 Information versus hysteria; objective descriptive information about events often sounds boring. Then there's the issue of opinion rather than reporting. Getting simple facts is basically impossible, because everyone has an agenda.

Some stuff is reported ok, but unimportant to most people. Person is injured and goes to hospital. Sure. People die in accident. Happens all the time.

In China if the government slaughters a million people, the news reports a government crackdown on something. In America if a police car injures a squirrel it's police brutality.
