the world has changed

 This version of the world is no longer desirable. The used car market is overpriced and universally accessible. What this means is that used cars are seen by millions of people and people bid up the prices. Since cars don't stay on the market as long, car lots keep the prices high. 

There has always been too much drama buying a used car from a private individual, but now car lots buy the good deals and Jack up the price. 

The internet isn't always a good thing. Some stuff is cheaper, some stuff costs more.
