no one is listening

 That isn't a bad thing, hopefully, I don't listen either. Most of the stuff in People's lives isn't interesting to us. When things happen to you or you do things that's interesting, but most of it doesn't interest others. This is the nature of our existence. That's why people tell "tall tales", to make it sound interesting or even amazing.

TV shows demonstrate how hard it is to get people to watch. If the show doesn't keep enough viewers the producers will change to a different show. They are constantly under pressure to use sex and edgy material to keep people watching. It's strange how we want to watch sex scenes even though people do it billions of times and it's common.
