numbers are bigger than they look

 numbers are bigger than they look. That's why 29.99 looks like 20 rather than 30. Our mind is somehow programmed to see the left number and round to that,  rather than looking at the whole number and rounding mathematically. We can say it if we stop and think,  but 7999.00 seems like 7000. We are tricked into staying broke.
