wolf creek pass

An old friend of mine and I were driving up wolf creek pass in separate cars. The night before God had about 6 inches of fresh snow fall, just on the mountain. My car has winter tires, the other guy had all season tires that don't work on snow. Well we are both old now, and when we were young this guy was a hard charger. As we ascended the mountain the road got wet, then slushy, then snow packed. My friend was in front and he just kept going. We passed a sign that said "8 miles to summit". Shortly after that his car started sliding around and the car stopped with his tires spinning. In fact it looked like it might slide down backwards. I stopped way behind him and got ready to put my car in reverse, but his car stopped. We talked briefly and then he was able to back around in a half circle and drive downhill. We made it safely back to dry pavement and went a different route. The point is, this guy is still a hard charger, just go till you can't go no more.
