the latest microwave oven law

 There is now a child safety lock on all new microwave ovens. This proves that America cannot go on. There have probably been less than 50 accidents where children have been seriously injured by pulling hot food out of a microwave and getting burned. Yet we passed a law which tremendously inhibits the use of a simple incredibly useful kitchen appliance. Over 30,000 people a year die in car accidents, 90% of those accidents involve a life-threatening head injury, yet we won't pass a law requiring people to wear helmets in cars. We will go to extreme lengths with airbags all over the place, when we could just put on a helmet. But helmets would be inconvenient and unpopular. Well let me tell you a child safety lock on a microwave is super unpopular, but we're just too stupid to figure out what a waste it is.
