In one scene a Lord of an estate in England is being paid by a drug lord to use his property. The drug lord has some problems and needs to pause payments for a while. The estate Lord says, "this couldn't come at a worse time, the roof needs replacing." The drug lord pauses and says, "let me get that roof for you."

So, in theory the drug lord has bought some future leverage. He could quip, "but, I put a roof over your head!"
