we are all living in a lie

 Jesus said that many people are pulled away by the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches. Americans spend a huge amount of time obsessing about work, money, healthcare, and government problems. People spend a tiny amount of time on prayer and spiritual matters. The world was a lie from the start. God told Adam he would die if he ate the fruit, and eventually he did, but first he spent years being tortured under a curse. When God said "in the day" it didn't mean the next 24 hours, it was a deceptive statement meaning some amount of time that only God knows.
