has Jesus gone soft?

 In Acts chapter 5 Jesus slaughters two people for misrepresenting a donation to His holy church, but today He allows people wearing a Christian cross to attempt to murder police men. Does Jesus hold donations to the church in higher regard than police that protect us from godless anarchy?
