software project ownership

Software managers used to take about talk about the team taking ownership of the project. Looking back on it what they were really saying was they wanted to dump the project stress on to the team. They were feeling the heat from upper management and from customers who are paying millions of dollars for this stuff and they needed somewhere to dump all that stress. At different parts of the project cycle you would hear different terms, like death march. Death March is a much more intense stress when the project is way overdue.
