God and earthly events

 As a Christian I see God at work in my life every day. But to an outside observer things usually look pretty normal. There are no angelic choirs floating around me singing the hallelujah chorus. So why do people believe in a God that kills Christians just like He kills everyone else? Christians die of cancer, murder, accidents, war, and lots of stuff, just like everyone else. Why don't all Christians die in their sleep? Why isn't there some obvious reason to be Christian? Why do people believe in Jesus? There's no healing faith prayer that works. In fact many times praying makes things worse.
