growth

Economic and population growth is actually a downward spiral. Some call it a cycle of growth and decay, or the circle of life. America exemplifies this process. But the result is unclear, as Amerca is a work in progress.

Before Europeans showed up the previous invasive species of humanity had been living the same for over a thousand years, the American Indians. The Indians had lived close to the land, without wheels, metal tools, or horses. But those pesky white men changed all that.

In the twentieth century the growth of industry and prosperity seemed like waves of positive change, constantly improving to replace the accomplishments of the previous generation. But somewhere in the 1970s America peaked. Too many people were moving to the city, the government got too big and bloated and expensive. America left the conservative Biblical values behind and quickly went into a death spiral. Abortion, sodomy, murder, dependency on legal and illegal drugs became the norm. The people turned away from God and worshipped a government made up of flawed egocentric people. They didn't openly confess that the government was God, but their lives betrayed their heart. This has all led to a disaster of illness, homelessness and destruction.

Some see technology as our saviour, but ethical and moral decay can't be propped up by technology. The Bible warns,

Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.

Unless artificial intelligence truly becomes our keeper, we are going the way of the do do bird and Sabre tooth tiger. It's all very natural, we just don't get it.

One hope is that God will use the deadly "iniquity virus". This virus targets those who love iniquity; it kills and there is no cure. This would most certainly wipe out almost everyone, but the few survivors could repopulate the earth for future rounds of destruction.
